With all the rumours that have been popping up about there being a third Sex In The City Film in the works, you would have suspected that filming was about to begin. Series star Sarah Jessica Parker put an end to them yesterday though, by bluntly telling the world “It’s Over”.
The 52-year old Parker appeared on Extra yesterday and told them “We’re not doing it” when asked about a third film in the long running franchise. Parker played sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw over six season on HBO, and in two films that followed it. The cast, that also includes Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, have long stated that they would be open for doing another film, but it just doesn’t look like it’s in the cards. Parker herself had never fully committed to doing a third film anyway, stating in 2010 after the second film was released that she would be “okay” if it ended.
During the interview Parker also said “I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”
While some fans may find the revelation that the franchise is indeed dead, there really were only so many stories that could be told in their world.
