Spotify Predicts The Song Of Summer 2017

Every summer there are songs that define it. Music that brings back images of where you were and what you were doing when they were big. It’s a position musicians love, because it gives their music an immortality that can be at time hard to get. Predicting this music can be hard to do, but Spotify has taken it upon themselves to give it a try for the Summer of 2017. And among their predictions are songs by Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons.

The streaming music service released a press release stating that there were  “tapping the insights of its genre and trend experts, analyzing its streaming data, and considering factors such as a song’s performance on the charts, on key Spotify playlists, and how it’s performing over time. The team also factored in buzz on social media to create a list of songs perfect for essential summer moments.”

Spotify’s list includes: “Bad Liar” by Selena Gomez,  “Strip That Down” by Liam Payne ft. Quavo,  “I’m The One” by DJ Khaled ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne,  “Crying in The Club” by Camila Cabello, “The Cure” by Lady Gaga, “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” by Shawn Mendes, “Swish Swish” by Katy Perry ft. Nicki Minaj,  “Mask Off” by Future, “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons, “DNA” by Kendrick Lamar, “Slow Hands” by Niall Horan, “Despacito” (Remix) by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber,  “Malibu” by Miley Cyrus, “1-800-273-8255” by Logic ft. Alessia Cara, Khalid and  “XO TOUR Llif3” by Lil Uzi Vert.

Of course some of these tracks are already currently on continuous play over the airwaves, and on multiple playlists. And we won’t really know which song will be considered the Song of the Summer until the end of the August. But it’s nice to be prepared isn’t it? Especially if you are going to hear the song over and over again for the next few months.
