George Michael passed away last December 25 at the age of 53, from heart disease and a build-up of fat in his liver, and fans have been mourning ever since. Today though those same fans have a reason to be at least a little happier, a new song by their idol has been released.
The song is called Fantasy, and it received its first radio airplay today. The single was recorded in the late 1980s and was meant to be part of his hit 1990 album Listen Without Prejudice, but somewhere along the line it was pulled and lost. Last year however Michael went to funk-master Nile Rodgers with the single and asked him to rework it for the re-issue of the album. Unfortunately Michael passed away before the re-working was completed. Rogers however finished it up, in time for the reissued album, Listen Without Prejudice/MTV Unplugged, which comes out on October 20.
Along with the song, Rogers also tweeted “You SHOULD have mixed feelings. No one’s heart was dragged through emotional ambiguity more than mine.Tears, uncertainty, happiness #LOVE”.
